We are in the month of September! This means there are so many different regional and local food festivals called “Sagre” taking place in and around Rome. If you are willing to grab your car keys to attend some of these Sagre around Rome and in the towns surrounding Rome known as the Castelli Romani, then you are in for a treat. Here is our list of regional and local food festivals around Rome that you don’t want to miss!
Porcino Mushroom Festival

Location: Parco Egeria, Rome
There are countless food festivals around Rome and in the Castelli Romani (surrounding towns) dedicated completely to the delightful Porcino mushroom. We have happily attended a few and decided we definitely had to tell you about one that is coming up at Parco Egeria. The splendid chefs and restaurateurs are ready to delight you with a menu based on porcini mushrooms, strictly local, from the Castelli Romani. Another on our list of regional and local food festivals around Rome is the Honey Festival in Campagnano. The 4th edition awaits you with a wide range of great genuine products, all typical of the Campania region of Italy. The event involves bringing the beekeepers of the whole region together with the Campagnano producers each year. For this edition, the program is enriched with cultural and culinary events that interest adults and children, the usual “traveling dinner” section, music, entertainment shows and more.
Nerola Rock: Fried Pizza & Skewers

Pizza Fritta (fried pizza) is a typical food product of various regions of Italy. If you have not had it, this is your chance to discover a new dish in Nerola! Another fun food festival around Rome (actually, a beer fest) on our list that you should visit is the Grottaferrata Beer Festival. Obviously, there will be lots of craft beers to try! Join with friends and family for skillfully roasted meats and other wonderful regional foods and desserts. There will be music performances that will have you move to the beat, fun shows and exciting spectacles for all ages. The little ones will love the fun fair area with games, carnival rides and entertainment. Catch the artisans’ market and crafts section too.
Craft Beer Festival

Location: Eataly – Roma Ostiense
The largest Craft Beer Festival to be hosted by “Eataly” will be held outdoors for the first time. This event will introduce you to agricultural craft beer which has allowed for many Italian farmers to not only share their passion but also survive in the economic crisis. Because of this Eataly has created this event dedicated to their art! Not only will there be lots of beer but also street food, teaching, demonstrations, live music and much more.
