Our Florence Day Trip includes a simple yet wonderful journey. Upon arriving to Florence, we will take you on a guided tour through the museum Academia. Here, we promise to stun you with the larger-than-life David carved by the master Michelangelo. If you can pull your eyes away from the wonderful details that make you wonder if David is indeed human, the museum also presents amazing paintings and sculptures.
Florence also boasts a gorgeous Duomo cathedral with pink and green Gothic-era designs. The church is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has the largest brick dome in the world!
On the Florence Day trip expect to move to a more-crowded one called the Piazza della Signoria. This plaza is filled with sculptures from various eras depicting epic scenes from history. You’ll find lions, Hercules, and a victorious Perseus holding the severed head of Medusa with her screaming snake hair.
After finding yourself a delicious lunch in one of the plaza’s many restaurants, we will take a look at Florence’s oldest bridge. It was first constructed in Roman times, but earns its fame by being the only bridge in Florence not bombed by German bombs in WWII. The colourful wood and stone bridge is a shopping dream, preserving itself as a market street as it was in its first years.
The Florence Day Trip will finish at one of Florence’s leather market, a trade they are famous for. Ask your tour guide to do some bargaining for you to get a beautifully crafted bag, wallet, or jacket!
Relax on the bus ride back to Rome while discussing your favourite sculptures from the day. We hope Medusa’s head doesn’t haunt you, but rather remember David’s strength in defeating the terrorizing giant! This is certainly a tour of inspiration for you to try out some art skills of your own. Who knows, you may be the next master artist!
